A slew of new forms of entertainment are constantly emerging, as the word’s meaning has come to encompass more and more: agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement. The capacity of entertainment to cross over different media has demonstrated an apparently limitless potential for creative remix, ensuring that many familiar themes, images, and structures are continually recycled.
From the Middle English entretenement, from the Latin intertenere, or hold inside; from the prefix inter and the root ten, or Indo-European ten.
